We may find it difficult at first when learning to play violin and we end up getting frustrated. Most of us want to learn it in an instant but this is not the way to learn how to play the violin. If we find ourselves getting angry for not being able to hit the right tune, we can rest and put the violin on the side for a while until we have calmed down and we can start again. Learning the violin entails patience. We must practice it on our allotted time and in the future, the results of our efforts will be all worth it. Jet 708360 JWL-1642EVS-2 – A Great Lathe for the Money

I’ve been doing woodworking for a couple of years now but never really thought to invest in a Lathe. I find that doing woodworking is quite a passion, so I finally decided to try my hand at shaping and doing more elaborate carpentry.  The Powermatic 1791227K also came highly recommended by some buddies who share my passion for woodworking.

Initially I wanted to purchase a much more expensive and larger lathe like the Oneway.  But it’s really just very hefty and very expensive and does pretty much the same job as the JET 708360.

The Jet  is much cheaper and generally does the type of work I’m interested in.  I was pleasantly surprised that it was easy to assemble.   The holes were perfectly aligned, a good thing since I have had to deal with misaligned holes with other products.  

For the unit’s performance, I couldn’t have asked for a better machine.  It really works well and it is very quiet and has zero vibration.  I get a smooth cut and no vibration makes polishing a lot easier. It also has a good tail sock, a strong motor, and the belt adjustment is easy to maneuver.  Plus, it has a handy tool rack where you can place your other tools.  I’ve been very happy it.

I really don’t have any large issues with it and the free shipping was free when I bought it from Amazon.   To me, the Powermatic 1791227K was a pretty much a bargain.  It’s a lot of value compared to buying the more expensive Oneway  just for bragging rights, or the Nova which is also a bit more expensive.

This lathe has a good fit, the unit is heavy enough to prevent sudden shifting while using it and the finish is quite good.  I think the quality of the product is topnotch and it’s designed both for the novice and seasoned woodworker.   

I haven’t had any regrets so far with the lathe.  The Jet 708360 has definitely lived up to my expectations.
